Bridging the Seed Gap: Strengthening Seed Production and Delivery Systems | Event

Access to quality improved seed remains a major challenge for many Ethiopian farmers due to limited seed availability, weak connections between seed producers and seed users, inadequate seed distribution networks, and infrastructure limitations affecting seed production, processing, storage, and delivery. This forum aims to create a platform for stakeholders to discuss existing gaps and develop coordinated strategies to strengthen the national seed system. AfriGene Harvest invites interested individuals, farmers, private companies, public institutions, NGOs who engaged in seed sector.

Afrigene Harvest Established as the first Startup of Plant Breeding & Seed Innovation in Ethiopia | News

Afrigene Harvest (AGH) has officially been established as the first startup in Ethiopia that committed to advance Plant Breeding and & strengthening the Seed System in Ethiopia and regional countries. AGH aims to harness the transformative power of plant biotechnological tools along with digital solution in accelerating the crop improvement effort as well as the availability of high-quality seeds from the seed system in East Africa. In order to attain the above aim, AGH intervene in three areas i) Capacity building- equip next generation plant breeders in modern techniques of plant breeding and support the availability of lab consumables and research facilities; ii) Seed innovation: strengthening the seed system to avail high quality seeds through innovative approach and iii) Partnerships : Build sustainable national and international partnership to facilitate capacity building and technology transfer focusing on modernization of crop improvement effort in East Africa.
